I moustache you a question....

Hi all! I hope everyone is well!

I am here to share some more of my creations from the past couple of weeks, using a couple of different digis: Starla from Saturated Canary and mainly Dorothy from The Friends Over the Rainbow collection at the Paper Shelter, both images I am in love with at the moment, they are so versatile and easy and fun to colour, it makes them a joy to work with creating projects or just colouring them to make into projects later on!

So Dorothy first. The first version of Dorothy I coloured her trying to keep in mind her original colouring, and I came up with this:
Promarkers Used:
Skin: Coral, Sunkissed Pink, Pale Pink, Putty
Hair: Cocoa, Henna, Cinnamon, Vanilla
Dress: Powder Blue, China Blue, Bluebell
Basket: Raw Sienna, Cocktail Pink
Dog: Cool Grey 3, Cool Grey 4

I used Cocktail Pink and Bluebell to dot around the image and then went over them with the Blender to make them look a little more soft focus.

To make the card, I took a piece of card I had coloured using my Neon Markers and Water (See previous posts) and mounted this on an angle and then added Dorothy on top. The sentiment was stamped from a Docrafts 6x6 Stamp from their Happy Days range, stamped in Purple and then embossed using clear powder. I then used red glitter for her shoes (Of course!!) and added three co-ordinating gems into the opposite corners.

I then decided I would play about with the colours of Dorothy, and created this:
Promarkers Used:
Skin: Coral, Sunkissed Pink, Pale Pink, Putty
Hair: Poppy, Maroon, Burgundy
Dog: Cool Grey 3, Cool Grey 4
Dress: Umber, Forest Green, Cool Grey 3
Basket: Burgundy, Forest Green

I then cut around Dorothy and mounted her onto a tag covered with Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap. I then took 3 lengths of raffia (I bought 3 spools from Wilkos for £1 as part of their Christmas wrap) and plaited them together, and the glittered her shoes green.

I then decided to try the Lion. Colouring creatures is something I struggle with as 99% of the images I do are all humans. So I approached this one carefully, and wasn't expecting too much, so you can imagine my surprise when it turned out like this:
I started off by colouring the body and head using Raw Sienna. I then coloured his mane using Sandstone. I then went back to his body, and went over the Raw Sienna using Ivory. I did this twice, I think it softens his fur and makes him look a little fluffy.
Back to his mane, I went over the Sandstone using Raw Sienna, again twice to add depth etc. I coloured his nose using Pale pink, and used Ivory on teeth and claws. I then used Cyan on his ball of wool. All in all, I think he came out pretty well.

Now onto Starla. Ever since I first saw this on Krista's blog, I fell in love. I also fell in love with the sentiment that she put with it on one of her Smash Book pages, 'I moustache you a question, but I'll shave it for later!'

For some unknown reason, this has really tickled me, and is guaranteed to give me a chuckle. So as soon as I bought Starla I knew that I had to make something with her that incorporated this sentiment. And then the perfect idea came to mind - a hanger. I have been making a few hangers recently, mainly for Halloween so far, to take part in a swap over at Digi Galore (awesome Facebook group!) and then one for my friend Sian (check it out on her blog).

This is the first hanger I made using Starla:
Promarkers Used:
Skin: Blush and Dusky Pink
Azure, Sky Blue, Aegean
Cool Grey 1-4

So with this image I saw a version coloured by one of Krista's video DT and fell in love, she used rainbow colours, but I thought I would try something a little easier first. I glittered around the edges of the hanger using double sided tape so I could get a straight line. I then took some curling ribbon (commonly used on gifts) and some white organza ribbon and attached it to the back and she was ready to hang.

I did a similar thing with a bunting shape and another coloured version of Starla, this time I went black, white & 1 colour (Red)
Cool Grey 1-5, Ruby, Red, Poppy, Burgundy, Cardinal Red

I then created cards using the same colour schemes:

I then created 2 other cards:

Promarkers Used:
Blush, Dusky Pink, Rose Pink
Amethyst, Purple, Plum
Cocoa, Raw Sienna
Cool Grey 2

For the glitter accents, I took a couple of glitter pens I own, pooled the ink on some paper and then added to my image using a cocktail stick, a lot tidier than using loose glitter!

Promarkers Used:
Blush, Dusky Pink
Ivory, Satin, Buttercup, Pastel Yellow
Rose Pink, Pink Lobster, Maroon
Cool Grey 5, Blossom, Cool Grey 1

This image is mounted on to some gift wrap I found in Tesco a few months ago (I have a bad habit of picking up gift wrap to use in my crafting and then it sits waiting to be cut up for months!) This card would be ideal to give to a friend for a little pick me up :)

I think my love for this image is my subconscious telling me to do something with moustaches seeing as it is Movember, either that or it is a really fab image that just cries out to be coloured in so many different ways!!

So I have rambled for far too long, hope you have liked and found some inspiration :)

    1. Thank you!
I like playing with different colour variations on the same image, it makes them look completely different every time :)
